Halal foods are those that follow Islamic dietary law.
To conform to halal regulations, it is necessary to be aware of what foods are forbidden. Further, halal foods must be produced, processed, and stored with equipment that has been properly cleaned according to Islamic law. Any foods that are not specifically prohibited may be eaten.
Most categories of meat are allowed, except for pork, which is forbidden.
Meats must be from approved sources and slaughtered, cut, and processed according to Islamic law. Ritual slaughter follows many regulations and includes the removal of blood. Animals that died in the wild or in any other way that excludes ritual slaughter may not be eaten.
