India, Tunisia, and Spain
Chickpeas have a long and fascinating history that connects India, the Maghreb region, and Spain through trade routes and cultural exchanges, particularly along the Silk Road. The Silk Road, an ancient network of trade routes connecting the East and West, played a significant role in the exchange of goods, including agricultural products like chickpeas. Through these trade routes, chickpeas were introduced to India from the Middle East and the Mediterranean, becoming a staple in Indian agriculture and cuisine.
