Most Ligurian baked goods are fragile and perishable, and while I can send you to some very good places if you are traveling in the region (and I might direct you to some of the listings in my book Italy for the Gourmet Traveler, in which Liguria is the first chapter), there are very few commercial bakeries whose quality I can endorse that also do shipping for export. One, however, is Panarello, which makes an excellent pandolce genovese. If you do not wish to make one yourself (although you should attempt to) Panarello is the perfect source. The store is near Genoa’s Mercato Orientale and the Brignole train station. The business address, and the one importers should contact, is on Via Carso. Other shops listed in Liguria are admirable for their individual products and are worth visiting if you are in the area.
