  • About
Thai food differs greatly from Chinese, although some of the cooking techniques are similar. This is not at all surprising, it is thought that the original Thais fled China as a minority group. At the very least trade with China and the vast number of Chinese immigrants have had an effect on the food. Unlike other South-east Asian countries Thailand has never been conquered by another foreign power, so Thai food is dominant and not overrun by foreign influences. The result is a very distinct cuisine that manages to grow stronger with the advent of new produce and ideas. China, India, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Portugal have all played a part in the evolution.
