  • About

Rosh Hashanah is a holiday that celebrates the start of the new year. It occurs on the first two days of the month of Tishri, usually in late September or early October. It is a joyful holiday for the most part, wishing people good luck for the coming year. It culminates with the blowing of the shofar, or ram’s horn, on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, which is a fast day. Yom Kippur, the most solemn day of the year, is for seeking the forgiveness of people one may have hurt or offended during the year, so one can start the new year with a clean slate.
