There’s a new, crisp freshness in the air. Harvest season is here. Grocers and farmers’ markets are full of tomatoes, corn on the cob and cheeses made from milk made sweet by herby green pastures. You’ll find plump, dark fruit like figs and brambles. Salads become more substantial now. Think wild rice and roasted beans, maybe the addition of smoky bacon to fortify tangy apples and Pecorino.
