The nutrients in fennel help it to reduce harmful levels of cholesterol in the blood, which makes it effective in the prevention of heart disease, atherosclerosis and stroke. The potassium in fennel also works as a natural vasodilator, which improves blood flow and reduces blood pressure. Though fennel does not directly affect blood sugar as much as some other spices, it is still an effective treatment for diabetes, due to its ability to reduce blood pressure.

Fennel is a great natural remedy for anaemia. Not only does it contain iron, which is essential for the transportation of oxygen in the blood, but the histidine in it stimulates the production of several components in the blood, including haemoglobin. This also makes fennel great for the prevention of fatigue.
