While this may seem like an odd requirement, rotating the insert while cooking helps quite a bit to achieve an evenly-cooked finished product. Most slow cookers have hot spots, usually located near the cord; this can result in overcooked or even burnt areas. So, rotating the insert of the slow cooker halfway through the cooking time will give you the best results possible.
