The word ‘restaurant’ used to mean a place where you did, literally, go to restore yourself (The Oxford Dictionary of Etymology definition includes ‘establishment for the provision of refreshments or meals. 1765; earlier in the sense “restorative”’), and I don’t think that element should escape the proprietor if he or she takes his or her business seriously.

A restaurant is never only about the food, it is, at best, a place that makes you feel at home; the question is, what makes you feel at home? And the answer is, it’s different for all of us.
