Another way to thin a soup and at the same time give it a smoother texture is to strain it through a fine-mesh strainer. Although ordinary kitchen strainers have a fine enough mesh for most soups, if you want a very fine, smooth texture, you’ll have to buy a fine-mesh strainer.
