The following seven cookies: Basler Leckerli, Zürcher Leckerli, Berner Haselnusslebkuchen, Biberli, Bretzeli, Tirggel, and Willisauer Ringli, aren’t necessarily Switzerland’s oldest, though many are quite old. Most of them started out in home kitchens and eventually became so beloved in their regions that they began to be mass produced. Today they can all be bought commercially (though some more easily than others) and in a few cases the factories that make them are some of Switzerland’s largest cookie producers.
