Univalves, also called gastropods, are creatures that live inside one shell, such as abalone. For our purposes here, we’re also including sea urchins, although technically they belong to a different class of animal. Bivalves, as the name suggests, are two-shelled creatures such as oysters, scallops, mussels, clams and pipis.
