Islay House Hotel, which dates from the early 1600s, is the impressive building sitting at the head of Lochindaal, with sweeping views across the water of the Kilchoman Peninsula. The chef who set up the kitchen and restaurant was Alex Floyd, who came to fame at Michelin-starred Leith’s restaurant in London, where he was Chef Director for ten years. In 2002, he moved to Brazil where he ran a successful restaurant, but then was lured back home to Scotland by an offer to head up Islay House kitchens in 2018.
