  • About

The Luing breed was developed by the Cadzow brothers on the island of Luing in Argyll off the west coast of Scotland. Luing is easily reached by a short ferry service over the Cuan Sound from the island of Seil, which is now linked to the mainland by the famous Clachan Bridge. Slate was the principal industry on Luing and was still being quarried here till the 1960s. Now livestock farming is the principal activity, in particular the unique herd of beef cattle bred by the island’s owners over 70 years ago.
