Situated on the eastern seaboard, these states have quite a different climate from Karnataka, with the humidity of the monsoon making them suited to rice production, earning them the nickname the ‘granary of the south’. Cotton, tobacco and pulses are also grown and exported all over the world.
The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad make up the municipality of Hyderabad, which is one of the largest metropolises in India. It is a beautiful place, with stately architecture and shops displaying colourful uncut precious stones, softly glistening pearls of different shades and delicate filigree work on pure silver.
