Use 1lb/450g water-glass dissolved in 8 pints/4 litres of boiled water. Cool and pour into the preserving jar or bucket. Place the eggs pointed end downwards as this keeps the yolk suspended in the centre of the egg away from the shell. This amount of water-glass should be sufficient for about 50 eggs, but ensure that all the eggs are completely covered. Store covered in a cool (60°F/15°C) place.
