Saada loves cooking and eating freshly made soups, using seasonal leaves, fragrant spices and always some chilli heat.
Saada is a modern Muslim woman living in the devout community of Kaukab. She is married with four grown up children. She is the director of the Community College in the Arab city of Sakhnin, her home town where she was brought up with strict Muslim beliefs. She works full-time in the education sector.
Saada is passionate about influencing cultural changes for Muslim women living in the traditional Arab society, having spent ten years in Texas as a young woman in the 1980s. She escaped the wrath of her father as she broke away from an arranged engagement, and his word to another man. She was the first Muslim girl to leave Sakhnin for any other reason than marriage, and, to get on a plane and leave her family home so young was considered to be unconventional and defiant, but not being in love with the man intended for her, was too much for Saada to bear.
