Roudena is renowned for her ‘ale gefen’, stuffed vine leaves which she prefers to eat without meat, just fragrantly spiced rice.
Roudena is a Christian woman who lives in the town of Deir Hanna with her husband. She has six children and fourteen grandchildren and, although she claims she doesn’t work, she swiftly retorts with “only at home” as her job here is enjoyable, but never ending, as she cooks three meals a day, every day.
Roudena lives in a spacious house within the Christian area of Deir Hanna, a town which is predominantly inhabited by Muslim Arabs. She has a modern kitchen with both traditional and contemporary gadgets for cooking every dish from scratch, an accomplishment she isn’t only very proud of, but is keen to make known.
