Rice contains no Vitamin A or C. It is, however, a source of several B group vitamins, and here there is quite a big difference between brown and white rice. This is not, by itself, a sufficient reason for choosing brown rice. You get plenty of vitamins in the rest of what you eat.
In what follows, ‘an average helping’ means 120 grams/4 ounces/1 cup of cooked rice. Please remember that percentages of daily requirements are very approximate, and that the quantity of each nutrient that your body needs depends on your sex, age, weight, and activity level. My figures are based on the requirements of a 40-year-old moderately active woman weighing around 55 kilos/120 pounds.
