  • About
Did you know that in true respect of the mighty oat, a bowl of porridge should be eaten whilst standing up and walking around the room, from a birchwood bowl with a horn spoon? Porridge should always be made with a pinch of salt, and cream should be handed round in a separate bowl. The traditions connected with Scotland’s national dish know no limits and stories of the Scot and his love of oats abound throughout history. There are umpteen references to oatmeal in the literature, poetry and song of centuries past. No matter where the ubiquitous Scot placed his feet upon dry land, it seems his oats went with him.
