The big harvest moon rising over Loch Dunvegan is a sight to behold. Like a great golden dome it shimmers low on the horizon in the balmy evening sky. That all-knowing, beaming face throws a sash of rippling light across the water, almost to our doorstep. Summer is turning into autumn and, at last, we have slipped into serene September.
The very first time Skye cast its spell over me, it was at this magical time of year. That was almost thirty years ago, but some things have never changed. The hills are still purple-clad in heather, the rowans are laden with red berries and September showers will always create colour-sharp rainbows.
