  • About
Quantities in the recipes in this book are given in metric and Imperial measures. The old Australian standard measuring cup is the same as the American standard 8-fluid ounce cup; the new Australian cup is bigger and holds 250 ml Note also that the Australian standard tablespoon holds 20 ml and is therefore bigger than either the American (14.2 ml) or the Imperial (17.7 ml). The table below gives a comparison.

American British Australian
1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon
1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon
3 tablespoons 2 tablespoons 2 tablespoons
4 tablespoons 3½ tablespoons 3 tablespoons
5 tablespoons 4 tablespoons 3½ tablespoons
