  • About
Spring comes to Poland early. The larks and the storks return on St. Joseph's day and in some years, earlier. The sun rises higher and higher into the sky. The ice breaks in the waters, the frost leaves the ground, and the grass pushes its tiny green blades into the warming air, afraid that snow may yet come. The buds on the trees swell; the black earth, beloved by the Pole, teeming with life after its winter rest, invites early sowing and planting. The cattle know that spring has come. All of nature responds and awakens; every spring brings a resurrection for her. Only man must wait for his resurrection. Yet each spring nature fills man with faith and courage to hope in the morrow.
