At most supermarkets, the center aisles contain processed and prepared foods, and the perimeter is lined with fresh produce, dairy products, and seafood, poultry, and meat. Try to keep most of your purchases from along the perimeter. Think of each shopping trip as an opportunity to try something new, whether a vegetable that’s in season or a whole grain from the bulk bin.
