What sugar does to us

  • About
Obviously based on your level of fitness, exercise and overall health, there is quite a lot of individual variation here, but excessive sugar consumption is linked to inflammation (which wreaks havoc on your immune system), hormonal complications, insulin resistance and metabolic complications, increased blood pressure and heart disease. It’s addictive (some say almost as much as cocaine, and that it has similar effects on our neurological pathways), it spikes our blood sugar and saps our energy, and it makes us fat.
