  • About

Pinus sylvestris This evergreen, the dominant tree of considerable areas in Scotland, is also found on sandy soils in south-east England. It flowers in May and June.

A clump of pine trees in a conspicuous position near a dwelling is traditionally supposed to have been planted as a sign to fugitive Jacobites that they would find safe harbour there.
