Magnus Nilsson is a Swedish chef at the forefront of the New Nordic cuisine movement. He began his career with a short stint at the world renowned, Michelin-starred Parisian eatery L’Arpège (his inability to communicate with the French-speaking chefs proved too much of an obstacle). He then decided to shift his focus to wine. He enrolled in oenology school, and in 2008 was hired by the owner of the Fäviken estate to build their wine collection. Nilsson began working in the Fäviken kitchen when the restaurant was in need of a head chef. He propelled the restaurant to international recognition by using local and fresh Nordic produce. Fäviken is currently ranked the 25th best restaurant in the world. He is frequently featured on television, appearing in season 3 of PBS’s “The Mind of a Chef” and has also been the focus of an episode of the Netflix original documentary series, “Chef’s Table”. Nilsson has been called one of the best young chefs in Europe and has published two books, Fäviken (2012) and The Nordic Cookbook (2015).
