    Venturing into the Estonian countryside from Tallinn, I was anticipating a fairly uneventful time, but the first place I visited was a village gallery housed in a farmhouse, complete with chickens and sheep. There, in the final rays of the setting sun, a young girl and her mother singing local folk music brought me to tears, and I ate herring salad on dark rye, washed down with blackberry wine.
