Picking berries has been part of everyday life in the Baltics for generations, with over twenty types being gathered in Estonia. While this is now mostly a recreational activity and a fun way to connect with nature, historically wild berries were used in folkloric medicine, and during periods of hunger and scarcity they contributed much-needed vitamins to a limited diet.
