Kefir, the drink of my childhood in Poland, is loved just as much by the people of the Baltics. Fortunately, it is now increasingly available, either plain or sweetened, and I like to use it as a base for a fruit smoothie, such as this invigorating berry one.
Whizz the cranberries to a fine powder in a powerful food processor or blender. Add the kefir, raspberries, birch or maple syrup and ice cubes and blitz to a smooth, pale pink shake.
Add the strawberries and pulse a few times, so you still have some fruity strawberry bits in your smoothie, then pour into glasses to serve.
