Preheat the oven. Mix together the oatmeal, flours, salt and bicarbonate of soda. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine bread-crumbs. Stir in the sugar and the egg to form a dough. Roll the dough out thinly on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 7.5 cm (3-inch) rounds with a biscuit cutter.
