With the recent availability of filo leaves, strudels can easily be made at home. Combining cooking and eating apples for flavour and texture and adding some amaretti bisucits makes a devastatingly good strudel. It is an inspired dinner party dessert and sure to dazzle your guests.
Preheat the oven. Soak the raisins in the brandy for at least 15 minutes. Mix the sugar with the cinnamon and lemon zest. Put the apple slices in a bowl and toss them with the sugar mixture and half the breadcrumbs; then mix in the raisins, brandy, nuts and lemon juice.
Carefully unfold the filo leaves but keep them covered with a plastic sheet or damp tea towel while you work. Lift off
