I combined three of the fruits that I can find in the middle of September for this salad - a last memory of summer before the cold of winter arrives.
Peel the pears (carefully), then cut into thick slices or wedges. Peel the oranges and cut into membrane-free wedges. Cut open the pomegranate and pick out the fleshy seeds (discard everything else). Put all the fruit into a stainless-steel or ceramic bowl, add the remaining ingredients, and leave to macerate for an hour. Serve well chilled.
