If lemons aren’t readily available, or lemonade is slightly tart for your children, you can make up a jug of fizzy orange which, I find, always goes down well. If you like, you can strain the drink at the end. I prefer it with some bits in, personally — and so does one of my daughters, but the other will only drink it if I strain it. For adults, who might want a bit of extra pizzazz, you could make a jugful with added spices such as a vanilla bean or a small stick of cinnamon.
