Bread crumbs are often used in meat loaves to bind ground meat and seasonings into a firm loaf. Here, rolled oats are soaked in milk and then mixed with the meat to produce a loaf with a nutty flavor and creamy texture. Bright and acidic, ketchup is the perfect condiment.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped

Method

In a small frying pan over medium-high heat, warm the olive oil. Add the onion and cook, stirring, until soft, about 3 minutes. Stir in 1 tsp of the salt and the pepper. Let cool.
