Nopales asados and carne asada were made for each other. When grilled, these fleshy tender paddles of the nopal cactus absorb all the smoke flavor and are almost impossible to overcook because they are so sturdy and full of moisture. Not to mention that grilling while constantly flipping the nopal paddles at high heat, practically eliminates their naturally occurring slime, which can be off-putting to some.
