In a small saucepan over high heat, combine the sugar, lime juice, orange, and habaneros and bring to a boil. Cook until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture thickens slightly, about 5 minutes. Cover, remove from the heat, and let steep for 30 minutes.
Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. Strain the syrup through a sieve into a container with a tight-fitting lid and refrigerate until chilled, at least 1 hour. The syrup will keep, tightly covered in the refrigerator, for up to 1 month.
