Sticky Bun French Toast

This is a lovely way to use up leftover sticky buns and make a quick but indulgent special occasion sort of breakfast. It makes a soft French toast with a crunchy top, a little like bread and butter pudding, and is really good served with Berry Compote or drizzled with maple syrup.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium egg
  • 50 ml full-fat milk
  • 50 ml cream

Method

Whisk the egg, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon in a wide, shallow bowl. Cut the sticky bun in half horizontally and pop both pieces cut side down in the eggs for a minute or so. The cut side will soak up lots of the eggy cream. Briefly turn the buns over.
