Buttermilk biscuits are one of the first things I learned to bake. I had only ever baked biscuits from the can before, and I was so impressed that I could make them from scratch. These biscuits can be made with butter, lard, or shortening. I typically use butter but often opt for lard if they will be served with sausage gravy.
