  1. Put the mix in a heavy medium-sized saucepan, then gradually stir in the water and the milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Simmer 1 minute, stirring vigorously and constantly.
  2. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla. Strain into four individual serving dishes, cover lightly with plastic, and chill.
