Most picadinho served in restaurants is made with ground beef. Home cooks, however, will make it with thinly sliced beef, or with leftover roasts of beef, which have been chopped.

Ingredients

Pumpkin

  • 1 4- to 5-pound pumpkin, as round as possible
  • Salt and freshly ground white pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Cut a circle about 3 inches from the stem of the pumpkin to form a “lid.” Scoop out the seeds and clean away the fibers. Lightly salt and pepper the inside and add a pinch or two of mace. Add the stock and cachaça or rum. Replace the lid to fit, rub t
