Like the tamales of Mexico, these sweet little puddings are sold by vendors in towns and cities. In late afternoon, trucks travel the residential areas of São Paulo as our Good Humor trucks once did, some ringing bells, others blaring pop tunes over a megaphone, and a voice shouts over the din “Pamonha! Pamonha! Gostoso e fresca!”—delicious and fresh. Wrapped individually in newspaper, they are still warm.
