Damper was traditionally an Australian campfire bread. Nowadays it is a useful quick bread using self-raising flour as a raising agent instead of yeast.
Preheat the oven to hot 210°C (415°F/Gas 6-7). Sieve the flours and salt into a large mixing bowl, returning any husks in the sieve to the flour in the bowl, and make a well in the centre.
Mix the melted butter and milk together and pour about three-qu
