This attractive cake is layered with marzipan and fresh cherries and has just a hint of cinnamon and apple. It is a rich cake, perfect with freshly made coffee, or try it warm as a tasty dessert, served with cream, crème fraîche or yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 150 ml/5 fl oz/ cup water
  • 1 egg<

Method

  1. Pour the water and egg into the bread machine pan. Sprinkle over the grated apple. If the instructions for your machine specify that the yeast is to be placed in the pan first, simply reverse the order in which you add the liquid and dry ingredients.
