Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries in Oreo Crumbs

I’d been following Choco Fruit on social media for a while and always loved seeing their bright and colourful chocolate-covered fruit creations. So when David kindly shared this recipe for his wonderful chocolate strawberry skewers with me, I was in a huge rush to get to my test kitchen and try it for myself. I’ve since spent many moments salivating over this simple but ingenious, almost no-cook treat. It delivers your chocolate hit and one of your five a day! What’s not to love?


  • 300g fresh strawberries
  • 1 pack Oreo biscuits
  • 500g Belgian chocolate coins
  • tablespoons butter
  • 4 x 20cm wooden skewers


Hull your strawberries and wash in warm water, then drain off in a colander. Put the Oreo biscuits in a bowl and crush to crumbs with the end of a rolling pin. Place your chocolate coins in a microwavable dish along with the butter, and put in the microwave for about four to six minutes on maximum heat. Keep a close eye on the mixture, stirring occasionally, and stop when everything is melted and smooth.

Dip your strawberries one by one into your melted chocolate. Place them a centimetre apart on greaseproof paper, then sprinkle with the crushed Oreo crumbs and leave to set. Once the chocolate is hard, put five strawberries on each skewer and serve, much to everyone’s delight.
