Ingredients

For each sandwich

  • 2 slices of bread, toasted on one side
  • 3 slices chicken
  • 1 or 2 slices York ham

Method

‘Toast the outsides of the bread slightly to prevent their getting into crumbs from the shaking in the pockets,’ read the old instructions, but nowadays when wrapping is no problem, the toasting still adds character to the sandwiches.

The filling is made from cold chicken, a little ham, a little curry paste, a little Cheddar cheese and some butter.
