  • 225 g (8 oz) plain flour
  • 1 level teaspoon sodium bicarbonate

Method

Preheat the oven to 190°C, 375°F, Gas Mark 5. Sieve the flour, sodium bicarbonate, cream of tartar and salt into a bowl.

Rub in the butter, stir in the grated cheese, then make the mixture into a firm dough with buttermilk or sour milk.
