  • About

I love dried cherries, and I must confess that half the fun is serving something as simple as poached dried fruit. Serve this atop one of your brownie favorites. Remember the mantra when it comes to cooking with wine . . . if it’s not good enough to drink, it’s not good enough to use for cooking!

Ingredients

Cherry Base

  • ½ cup dry white wine
  • ½ cup 100 percent tart cherry juice
  • ½

Method

For the Cherry Base

In a small saucepan, bring the wine, juice, and sugar to a boil, stirring often until sugar is dissolved.

Remove saucepan from heat. Add cherries and cover. Let stand, covered, for 1 hour.

Drain cherries in a sieve. Reserve liquid for drinking.
