Until I discovered a French handwritten recipe from the 1930s, I hadn’t appreciated that the cake we now call a Drizzle Cake had been around for so long. The French recipe includes white rum in the fruit syrup though it’s not essential. This popular cake is recommended for a fund-raising stall.
