Rainbow Ring Cake

I devised this for a friend who loves rainbows – her clothes, shoes, car, and house are decorated with them. This is also a good cake to make with or for children since it is simply a marble cake based on a variation of Victoria sponge cake. The finished cake has all the colours of the rainbow – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet – though you only need small bottles of red, yellow and blue food colours to mix them.
